What I propose is definitely an imperfect solution. It can be tricked. But I think it’s better than the current option, which is what you propose: ignore it, or come up with a better argument.

Frankly, uninformed comments from people who haven’t RTFA take a financial (and psychological) toll. News organizations can do more and better journalism (and community building) if they spend less time deleting and blocking people, and more time engaging with those who’ve shown a minimum commitment do the discussion (ie. reading an article).

As for the rest of your argument, about become a target for hackers or distributing on multiple platforms, I’m not sure I see how that’s relates.
